The College Profile
The origin of society is linked to the existence of power and law, which regulate the relationship between its members, ensures order, and eliminate conflicts between different interests. Hence, there is no existence of a society without authority and law. As a result of the urgent need and the importance of legal studies, the Department of Law was created in 2000 and was part of the structure of the Faculty of Education at the University of Diyala, which was developed in 2002 and became a faculty known as the Faculty of Law.
Because of the significant impact of politics on the lives of individual and collective citizens, and strengthening the power of the State, its system of local government and its relations with other States, and because the balance of power and stability of States is based to a degree on the strength of political knowledge, the skill and expertise of its politicians, the need to establish a political science department in the Faculty of Law emerged in 2009 to study political ideas and theories as well as governance, public policy, domestic administration, foreign policy and relations. As a result our College name was modified to be (Faculty of Law and Political Science) in 2010 with two departments: the Law department and the Political Science department.
