Sponsored by Dr. Khalifa Ibrahim Al-Tamimi the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science law department in our faculty holds a discussion session in which Dr. Husam Abdul Latif explained the legal procedures necessary to register the trademark , the legal impact. In addition , He highlighted the great importance that the trade mark poses to the business and that it is the cornerstone which differentiates the products from those of the business community. As well as being its means of commercial competition, therefore this trade mark must be protected from cheating and imitation. So the trade mark should be registered at ministry of Industry and Minerals by the law so-called Trademark and Geographical Data Act No. 30 of 1957.
Furthermore, Mr.Mostafa Turki added that several procedures are prior to the registration of the trade mark including submitting an application (Enquire) about the possibility of registering the mark or the so-called inspection request. This is carried out by matching the mark to be registered with the pre-registered marks. There is a certain period for submitting an application for registration which is 30 days plus there is a specific period for submitting an application for objection which is 90 days from the date of publication of the admission.
